Replacing CR2025 battery in a Minolta 807si?

I got a hold of a Minolta 807si that may or may not work. First step is replacing the batteries, but I am having some issues getting the CR2025 out. The flap does not seem to be opening?

Any idea if needs brute force due to age, or is there some delicate way to open it up?

The instructions are on PDF page 58 and say slide the cover in the direction of the arrow, remove the old battery and replace with a new one, reinstall the cover.
See the arrow under the R in your picture? The cover likely slides back 2 millimeters then lifts off or swings up.

Thanks shutterfinger, unfortunately it does slide back and forward 1-2mm, but will not lift or swing open. Even tried using a small screwdriver using considerable force. I'm starting to wondering if it's not jammed from age and may need to be broken off.

OK, check the film guide roller bracket for being out of position/bent. Check that the battery is seated properly, not raised up. Use a razor knife and trim the rear corner of the cover at the film guide roller bracket so that the cover comes back further.
Check also that the back is not bowed slightly from mishandling or being dropped.
Don't break it out, fineness it out.

When slid back did you try lifting up on the film guide roller end while pulling outward and upward at the same time?

One still has the chance to open the back, see those two screws.

There's likely more screws on the other end of the back. Those covers usually are "tricky" as they only have .05mm clearance to open in. After a few years of use and heat it may be warped.

Even just lifting the left screw aleady might take off some tension from that transparent cover

Thanks for the responses guys.

I've tried the suggestions in this thread and unfortunately it's still not budging. It was dropped by the previous owner, which is why it went for such a competitive price, but works great with a 2cr5 battery in there. I'm not sure what the CR2025 is really for besides keeping track of date and time and printing them in the corner of the negative. May be better just to run the thing without it. Does it serve a major purpose? This is really nifty camera in any case and I would not want to damage it by surgery

All the battery is for is the data back only .
Unless you want the time and date stamped on your negatives , forget it .
Your more likely to get a roll of film back ruined because it switched on in your camera bag some how .

You summed it up. It might even be that the current for printing comes from the body itself.
