Replacement of Hasselblad 503CX leatherette

Hi,

Seeking advice from the Hasselblad experts here about replacing my old 503CX leatherette skin which has been shrinking for a while. Now the glue holding the skin is melting and becoming lose to the point it is become slippery holding it. I believe this is a common issue for those living in humid weather. There are eBay shops selling replacement skin but not sure if they are durable and able to match the color and texture of the origin leatherette. Would someone with similar experience with skin replacement and any tips to do so? Thanks in advance.

As for the glue, my Hasselblad repairman recommends Pliobond 25. I do not have any hands on leatherette skin replacement.

I haven't had any skins on a Hasselblad replaced, but have had this done with several Minolta Autocords. I opted for the "textile coverings" offered at CameraLeather.com : https://cameraleather.com/Textiles.html

Mind you, I've never done the replacing myself; always had someone else do it.

I recently did the leatherette for a Hassy A12 back.

1) I peeled off the original leatherette, where the glue is loose and slimy.
2) I use 97% alcohol to clean up both the back of leatherette and the metal parts, to get rid of all of the goo
3) I apply Pliobond P141 only to the metal side, wait for 5-15 seconds to the clue to thicken, and apply the clean leatherette
4) The glue will set in a couple of hours
5) The glue smells bad, but works well

In terms of replacement leatherette for other cameras, I have bought both from cameraleather and akiasahi. Both have good quality material, precision cut, and double-sized tape, and are fairly easy to install if you are careful. One type of material is called griptech, which is not real leather but have really good grip.
