A couple of years back I purchased a Generic Seal Repair Kit from Jon (Interslice)
The kit is not longer available and I wonder if anybody knows of any other source with similar product.
Thanks!

I had a look around and also couldn't find a generic kit, which is what I need as I fiddle with all kinds of cameras and really just want a general stock of sealing foam thicknesses, felt, etc.
Perhaps Jon is a member?

I have a few acres of 1mm self adhesive black foam if anyone wants any. We have it 1 metre wide on rolls.

I've always used sticky felt with stiffened back from michaels... Never had a seal failure or light leak... Plus it's 1 dollar a sheet which is more than enough for 10 or so cameras

I would see if you could contact Jon. Very nice guy to work with when I bought my seal kit.

I believe he no longer sells a generic kit, someone was buying them & reselling the little critters.

As I understand it, they were buying his generic kits and then "re-purposing" the materials into new kits with plagiarized copies of his camera specific instructions, and then selling those kits as their own.

I would contact Jon, he made up a kit for a Minolta AL-F for me no problem. Otherwise Micro Tools is also a good suggestion, I've recently ordered from them and was quite pleased.

Thanks Paul,
I already contacted him and he explained a problem with some guy reselling his kit. I told him I would not mind signing any "not for resell" agreement since most of my cameras are not part of the kits.
Would you mind sending the link to Micro tools ?

I could use some light seal kits for 120 and 220 backs fro my SQ-A system. Do you guys think John would make some kits or just sell us the supplies if we did a group buy from APUGers if we all agreed and signed non-resale contracts or something?

I've redone Mamiya and Bronica backs with thin adhesive-backed foam and felt from craft stores. It's cheap and works perfectly. The real headache is getting the old gick out and Goodman doesn't do that for you. It's really not necessary to have a kit.

Hi, Folks and Happy New Year, by the way. Merry Christmas, too. I can still say that. At least I think that's one of the messages in Dickens "A Christmas Carol," isn't it?

Sadly dishonesty and fraud put an end to the general kits and sadly old Jon can't show up and remove all the gunk from everyone's camera, but I can work with you on creating more kits, and I'm happy to do that. Even though I receive as many as 200 email messages a day, I do my best to answer them all.

Also, I still have the finest camera foam I've seen in the 52+ years I've been involved with cameras and it is backed with the world's finest rubber-based adhesive. That is very expensive stuff with the trouble the dollar has suffered, and what I require is a sandwich adhesive (meaning a thin membrane in the center prevents the foam from changing size when the backing paper is removed. NASA uses this, too, by the way. For those who haven't seen the 1.6mm felt I'm using now, I have it vinylized so it resists shedding better than anything I've ever seen and it has a better rebound ability...lest anyone think I'm not still working on improvements.

Somebody mentioned the Bronica SQ-A kit...I have already made that kit, but I don't list it on eBay since it sells infrequently. The RB67 is another I've now got again (two of the cutters I use broke last fall and it took me 3 months to repair them). What else...Pentax 6x7. I have that one, but I've not been able to catch up enough to cut a stock of pieces (I still work at 2 jobs). Ricoh KR30SP. Early Canonet, RZ67 film back/carrier, Leica R4, 5 6. Working on the Fuji GSW690 II. XA second series (models 3 and 4). Canon Pellix. Chinon CE-3. Canon T-70. Small Hi-Matic (like the F). And maybe a few that don't come to mind quickly. Oh, yes...one of the Kowa backs...the Super 66. That one requires some time, but I did correct a design flaw on it. Please contact me if you need any of these, but be sure to include a subject line on your email. Email that goes to the spam folder seldom gets pulled back out.

Thank all you folks for your loyalty and support. It means quite a bit to me. I wish I had time to visit and contribute to the forum, but for right now I don't. If there is a camera you're working on which isn't going to be popular enough to justify making a kit for, that's ok. I'm happy to send you off-cuts of foam, etc that you can use to repair it. All you have to do is send me an email (either to Jon_Goodman@yahoo.com or jgood21967@aol.com). Images of what you're doing will help. A description will help. Thicknesses needed will help.

I've got to run for now...more work to do.
Take care and best regards,
Jon Goodman

I'm holding on to my good old generic interslice kit. Its done a good job on a number of cameras. Having the kit is far more useful for me - I'm in the UK and would rather cut my own to size (Which is fairly straight forward) than wait a couple of weeks for shipping of a single kit from the US

Shame some people have got to spoil it all

Like Wishy, a kit is what I need, and I'm near the end of the most useful foam thicknesses of a kit I bought from Jon a couple of years ago. I acquire odd cameras and replace bits of foam on a whim - sometimes I do all of it, sometimes not - but I don't plan far enough ahead to think about ordering a specific kit.

Is there any remote chance (Jon) that kits might be made available to 'approved' (for want of a better word) users? I'm certainly not out to re-sell the kit, as I'm sure 99% of others aren't. I don't even sell the cameras that I've re-foamed (hence camera-ed up to the eyeballs at home!) My one kit every two years is indicative of my usage but I suppose if circumstances dictate, I'll have to return to my previous method of purloining mouse-mats for their foam!

I got my kit from micro-tools today (LBMM-KIT-2) for $14. It contains 3 strips (1mm, 2mm, 3mm) size 1"x10".
I would not mind to pay Jon $20 for the same if it was available.
