Not sure most gathered here know about General Electric AR-1 lamps, but I'll give it a go. Anyone know of a manufacturer of a similar lamp?

First time I even hear of them, I only knew of the red (Neon) discharge lamps of similar built. Thus I doubt Europe would be a source.

The lamps were hard to find and rather costly even way back when. I required them for our Morse Contact Printer; nothing else would work as well. There are modern replacements if I can design a way to use them, but I would rather not..

Are these the little purple glow Argon lamps? I've got a Arkay printer, there's some uv component. Super fast 1 second or less with any paper.

Don't know if they will work, but they should. And last longer...

Hey, thanks for the link. The biggest issue is the physical size of the lamp. The GE AR-1 was much smaller. I'll keep the lamps you posted in mind. The wavelength of the GE lamps can be matched with LEDs, so that might be an option. Also, my experience was with Kodabromide and AZO paper. Perfect exposure time which was important when printing a few hundred prints.

Interestingly, Kodabrome RC paper was too fast.

Exactly correct. I will assume your Arkay is heavy enough to anchor a Princess Cruses ocean liner firmly at dock? i found one for sale and local pickup. He will ship for $80.00 - $140.00.
