Hello to all, I am new to the forum.
After a few years with the Canon A1, I stumbled across a broken Zeiss Ikon Contarex with 1:2/50mm Planar and 1:2/35 Distagon in a thrift shop a few weeks ago and picked it up for 100€. I bought it rather on the off chance, I only found out about the prices of these lenses afterwards.
The camera itself needs servicing, no curtain or mirror movement, at least light meter is moving. But the lenses looked pretty clean. Don't have an adapter to one of my working cameras yet, unfortunately, so I can only check them with the naked eye so far. The Distagon still moves very well, but there are moist oil films in several places, I fear someone has helped with penetrating oil. I hope this doesn't affect the lenses too much.
The 50mm Planar has no oil film, it needed quite some force to move the focus ring. I couldn't resist and took a look at the inner workings. Of course I didn't touch the optical assembly, I was only interested in the focus ring. Disassembly went smoothly, the threads look ok, the lens "only" needs new grease (carefully selected, of course).
Unfortunately I have probems when putting it back together, as the left and right threads have to fit. I tried to put it together, but managed to brace the elements - fortunately it went back on. Before reassembling properly, however, I would like to follow proper assembly instructions. Does anyone on the forum have experience or even an assembly instruction?
