I'm looking for a reputable and affordable place or person to send my T2 to get repaired. The lens barrel (or perhaps opening) is *slightly* bent which prevents it from fully extending when turning the power on. This prevents it from shooting photographs. I value the camera too much to mess with it myself.

Suggestions?

Thanks

On the insides the whole thing is cheap plastic. I had one where the focusing when all haywire. The repair people told me it was unfixable. Once they sent it back to me I took the camera apart to see what made it so expensive. Boy was I disappointed in the materials and craftsmanship. Sorry to crap on your camera but unless it's an easy fix you might as well look for another one. Or get an Olympus P&S, they are better cameras imho.

Thanks for the link Huss. I called them and they were very nice. They charge $5 for an estimate and he generally guessed it would be $200 to fix. I'll bring it in on Tuesday to see what they see..

Eric- I paid $400 for the camera which (at least at the time) was considered a good deal. I think you're underestimating the quality of the T2. It's not an amazing camera but it takes very sharp pictures, far sharper than the vast majority of my (dozens) of similarly sized cameras. It even competes with my East German Rollei 35T which I consider the sharpest lens of any camera that size. That said, the extent of the damage seems small, so they will have to go through a lot of explanation to justify $200.

Thanks again

There's an old saw that goes for many service businesses. ..............You're not paying for what I do, but for what I know.
I've opened a camera or two up in the past and the problem was just that simple it was done while you wait and for good will.
Something about what goes around.............
Good luck.

Yeah, the lens is the only reason anyone should go nuts for a Contax T2 - was a great deal before they became THE film point and shoot
