I purchased a Bolex 155 (Super 8) several years ago and am finally getting around to trying to finish repairs. The biggest and first issue I noticed was the nylon gear that the focal length knob turns was destroyed. I took measurements of this gear and ordered a replacement from Xometry. However, in the process of trying to replace this gear, I (foolishly) must have made adjustments to either the focus knob or the zoom knob when the gear was not in place. Now, the zoom and focus apparatus seems to be out of alignment in some way, in that the image through the viewfinder is sort of a hazy double-image, and the focus never gets quite right. I assume that I need to get them back into calibration, but I have no idea how to do that. I found one note in the service manual stipulating the number of teeth on the larger black quarter-gear (that this nylon gear is in contact with) that need to be sort of out of the main chassis when it is in full wide, but I don't know what position the focus knob and nylon gear it's connected to need to be when the gear is in that state.

If anyone has a straightforward process to get this back into sync, I'd really appreciate it. This is my first time attempting a repair like this, so I'm sure a lot of what I've done so far is not "best practice," but I'm learning! The service manual for this model can be easily found online, but is very hard to understand the interactions between these pieces for someone pretty new to these repairs.
