Howdy all,
Want to disassemble and clean this Six-16 but the front plate is riveted on, rather than screwed on. Can these rivets be removed and replaced or would their removal necessitate using small self-tapping screws? It's pretty filthy and the reflex mirrors need put back and cleaned. Any help is appreciated.

Hi Phil,

Provided you have reasonable access to them, the rivets can most likely be removed (i.e., by drilling them out). But depending on how small they are it may be difficult to find suitable replacements. I started this thread on the old classic camera repair forum when I was in a similar situation, and received some tips for possible replacement sources as well as some ideas for making them from scratch. There is also (there was a url link here which no longer exists) here which may have some ideas for you.

Aren't rivets a pain?
