Rennie Ellis - under appreciated Australian Photographer

I wonder how much the likes of Ken Duncan and those similar to him have destroyed the way we look at landscapes......

Anyhow, you guys have given me an idea - let do a series of Australian photographers here. Might broaden our horizons.

I've always happily devoured the work of Wolfgang Sievers.....

Marc!

One day I was in my local library, Sandringham (suburb or Melbourne) reading some photographic books that were not available for loan. I had Wolfgang's book open and was just looking at one of the pictures for a long time, when I was asked by an old man if I thought it was any good. I replied in the affirmative then looked up and was completely surprised to find I was engaged in conversation with the actual photographer; very humble man.

He lived locally and if I remember correctly, he died in the local hospital only a few blocks away from the library.

Mick.

Ps:- Olive Cotton.

Here's the thing.
Peter Dombrovskis and Olegas Truchanas are names I am totally unfamiliar with. So, based on the "inner circle" comment, I think you are correct.

there a doco on these two... can't remember the name at the moment

Wildness.
It featured Melva Truchanas and Max Angus, among other Tasmanian artist and photographic luminaries.
