Removing gunk from tanks etc

Can anyone recommend a method / chemical for removing gunk from developer tanks etc?

I think the build up is killing my developer etc...

Tar and rack cleaner its a wonder substance all the pro labs and mini labs here in australia use it I'm sure its available overseas.

Ethyl alcohol or bleach...assuming you have some good ventilation that is!

The old Kodak Formula for tray cleaner found in an Old PhotoLab Index
Is Water 32oz.
Potassium Bichromate 3oz
Sulfuric Acid 3 oz
Add the acid to the solution slowly

No doubt EPA and other governmental agencies would not allow it any more in order to protect us from out selves….but it worked for years and hardly any one died!

When I worked in photo labs we used toilet bowl cleaner on the racks & rollers, cheap & effective. I would advise doing it outside and rubber gloves.

The chrome cleaner formula - it can be stored and reused many times. The cue is to use it until it turns from orange to green. The chrome is then in a less toxic form - the same deal applies with chrome film bleaches
