a pre-soak helps, so does a post-fix wash in sodium sulfite (HCA).

Best of all, in my experience, is a post-wash in a solution of 1 tsp washing soda per liter of 2% sodium sulfite. This will clear the dye from Fomapan sheet film in about two minutes.
