Removing a darkslide holder....?

Recently bought another used A16 back, (Hey, I like shooting 645) that has a Lindahl slide holder attached to it. While in theory it’s a great idea (storing the darkslide), this one however is causing a problem. I should have had the camera body and prism with me, when I got this one to test out any problems, but of course I didn’t, and of course, no returns, no refunds.

Sooo… Is there a way of removing the holder, without damaging the leatherette covering on the magazine? For those familiar with the slideholder it can really only fit a certain way, however in this case, the person who had the magazine before me, ... well it seems it was attached … well perhaps a bit too high on the magazine back. (No wonder I got it so cheap, and no wonder no returns/refunds )

It's causing a problem when mounting to the body with the PM90 prism. It (the top of the slideholder) hits the bottom of the prism, I have to jump thru hoops to mount the magazine....

Any ideas?

Yes, you can carefully pry the Lindahl back off. If the leatherette starts to come up, start prying in another area.

I had this problem and when I removed the back a little of the cover started coming up. When I finished removing the holder, I pressed the cover back down and it has not lifted since.

I ordered another darkslide holder from B&H and I have not had that problem again.

One problem that I did have with the holders is that the top layer of the holder kept falling off. I used just a touch of super glue on the edges and made sure that it did not hold the darkslide too tightly.

Use "Goo Gone" it will soften the adhesive & make the DS holder easier to get off.
Use a small amount and let it work at least overnight. If it looks like it's evaporated, another drop or two won't hurt. Again let it work over night. Once the DS holder is off, clean the residue with rubbing alcohol.
It won't have any ill effect on the leatherette covering the back.
