I have removed card/RAW photos from Canon DSLR, renamed photos and without changing them moved back to card and inserted camera. Canon DSLR can't recognize photos...It can't play them. Why? Anybody can explain this? Thanks!

because file name no longer linked to camera

It's basically an edited image. I think pretty much all digicams do this.

You actually did change them. The file name is part of the metadata. You can try to change one back and see if it will work. I’ve never considered editing images on a flash card. Just curios as to why you attempted this?

Just a friendly suggestion. I notice you are a wedding photographer. All sorts of weird things that don’t ever happen will happen one day. I recommend 3 Hard rules for Critically important images:

1 I never touch a critical file until I have at least one backup. (I ALWAYS made 2 back up copies on different storage media)
2 Opening and/or renaming a file is touching it.
3 all Wedding images are critically important

I lost a graduation ceremony - my first job at a youth sports academy b/c of a bad Lexmark CF card reader. It cost me tens of thousands in future business. To this day I transfer all images from the camera with a USB cord.

Be diligently anal to do everything you can to protect your valuable images.

As far as I can see, the "file management" system in a digital camera is nowhere near the robust multi-featured system found in a computer. As a result it is very likely a change from the standard IMG_xxxx filename may well be considered a corrupt directory entry and just ignored. Over the years, it has generally been recommended that you not alter the file on a card anywhere but in the camera, and in fact the long time recommendation is to format the empty card in the camera you are using it in. Even switching cards between cameras is at best not a good idea.

In these "modern times" as digital things have become a bit more standardized, it may be possible to get away with more shenanigans outside the camera, but I don't like to count on that. And given that a Gigabyte in today's dollars costs about what a Megabyte cost in 2000, saving memory doesn't seem all that important!
