I have a very nice Agfa Viking 7.7 Igestar folding camera. Based on the appearance it almost looks unused. I know it isn't worth a lot but it is fun to shoot film with it from time to time. The shutter is a little slow, but not enough to worry about, but the wind on is very tight and hard to turn.

I am curious if anyone has ever disassembled one of these to clean and lubricate it can they give me an idea on what I will need to do?

I could also drip some light oil on the shaft (which is pulled out to insert the take up roll) but I would much rather disassemble it and clean it up if I can.

Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks.

Probably not the right way but I finally just put some 3in1 oil on the shaft using a toothpick and then worked it around. Used a few Qtips to clean the gunk that came out. Seems to be working just fine at this point.

Simple fixes for simple cameras I guess.

3 in 1 oil will dry out in a few months and leave a sticky residue that will build up with continued applications.
TriFlow, clock oil, and gun oil will work much better. Flush with 90% Isopropyl Alcohol then apply the new oil for a more reliable longer lasting lube. It may have had a light grease from the factory.

The top and or the bottom plates will need to be removed to fully service the wind mechanism. I have never seen one of these cameras. I have an old Billy Record which is similar. They are basically a simple camera.

Thanks shutterfinger. I have tri-flo and gun oil. I'll clean it and reapply.

They are very simple cameras, and quite small for the negative. That is one of the reasons I am attracted to it.
