Remind me later Im busy.
Ha ha we could even say, "busy shooting my Hasselblad" :D

As far as I am concerned, and after over a decade of a very full life exclusively shooting a beautiful Rolleiflex FX, I succumbed to the Swedish sirens of interchangeable lenses and back.
And now that my > 40 year old eyes require using a prism, my life is still full, but unfortunately my Rollie is empty. I miss it but I just can't imagine using a Rollie with a prism.

Hey Old Gregg… I’m going to celebrate for you and hope that someday my life is made just a little less empty. Not sure how that’s possible but if buying a Rollei is the way, I’m in. Let me know if there’s more spring in your step!

I would not know about life being empty without a Rollei because my life is so full with my Hasselblad. OP come on and switch over, you know that you want to.

Old Greg,

A Rolleiflex is a chick magnet. It is.

Also, it is a passport to pleasant street photography. People will let you go and shoot everywhere with a Rolleiflex. They will also ask you to take their portait, no jokes.

It is such a well perceived, and well received, camera that on a whim you could ask any stranger girl to show you her boobs and take a photo. You would have high chances of her accepting.

With a Leica? Blad? Forget it. Opposed to the general “knowledge”, those are perceived as hostile cameras.

It does appear significantly wider than my Mamiya 80mm lens though!
Hi,

gratulations on your 2,8F!
Agree on your first experiences - the left side focussing felt always a bit worse than the right knob on the Rolleiflex Original.
About the angle of view:
Is the Xenotar more like a 75mm or is the Mamiya 80mm more like a 90mm when comparing with the Planar 80 of your Hasselblad?

Best
Jens

You should probably compare the negatives before you reach a conclusion about FOV. What you may be seeing may reflect differences in the viewing systems.
A side-by-side comparison of first the apparent FOV when viewing vs. the actual FOV on the negative would be a good idea.
It is important to remember that both cameras were sold when it was common to shoot projected slides (which inevitably crop slightly) and have prints made at amateur labs (which often cropped slightly as well).

I would love a Rolleiflex as light and compact as the original, with a nice coated lens.

Probably why I love my Tower Reflex with Nikor

A real sleeper. If people ask, I can play it down and say it’s from Sears.

Actually any camera will work including press cameras and studio cameras, since you do not have success with Leicas and Hasselblads the problem is that you lack of technique with women. You should work on that.

The answer is yes.

PBR is Frank's beer of choice (for those familiar with Blue Velvet). View attachment 283615

Saw it in the theatre when it came out. My film studies teacher insisted on it. It has remained one of my favourites ever since...

There is no technique for having girls want to kiss your ass out of nowhere.

Well there are a few techniques, actually, now that I remember.

One is to step out of a Porsche on a busy street.
The other one is to walk with a cucumber stuck in your pants. In the front, exclusively.
And a soft but effective technique is to walk around with a Rolleiflex.

You need to work on your sales techniques.

Woman sees man with camera. Woman crosses street. Is there a causal relation?
Man takes picture. Woman recrosses street to beat man senseless.
