Releasing the focus lock on the 35mm Leica Summaron

Can someone describe how to release the focus / infinity lock on the 35mm Summaron?

Depends which version, usually just push the release back and twist the lens, not sure on late models. The one I used was similar to my 50mm Summicron.

if it is the M3 version the eyes have to be on the lens and screwed down tight

It isn't the M3 version. I worked out the problem is actually with the focusing mechanism clogging up, so it will need servicing.
