Regular 2X8mm Positive BW Movie Film Scanning for 500 KB Size Gallery Image

I scan 35 mm images 17mb and compress to 500 kb for gallery. Its 1/34 compression.
If I scan 8mm positive slide to 2mb and compress 1/4 , can I see same image quality ?
