I'm just cleaning up some very old contact frames that I have been given.

(One of them is marked "Eastman Rochester NY" whatever that means , another seems to say "Way-Hay" with a ship's wheel logo)

The intention is to use them for small cyanotypes, salt prints or possibly even vandykes.

Any particular recommendations for replacing the backing material?

I had intended to use woollen craft felt in a dark colour - any particular reason to use one colour rather than another ? Black or green or red equally OK?

I was also going to rub in a bit of beeswax to give 'em a bit of a gleam, though I am vaguely chary of doing so in case of transfer.
