If I were less lazy, I'd start scouring the internet, but it's usually mroe efficient ot ask here: who has a good guide to film processing basics, for an old geezer who used to do it all the time but needs a quick reminder? Like "here's the chemistry guide/Kodak guidebook, remember the steps and follow these times" kind of thing.

Trying to remember, it seems to me there was a pre-wet (optional), then develop, stop, fix, wash. Hypo was in there to clear, but I can't remember where it fit!

D-76 vs. Dektol vs ID11, then which stop bath/fixer works better with each developer, all those details... I've forgotten so much. 8-(

Okay, actually I need more than a quickie guide, I do need to do some reading and then get supplies and practice different combinations. What's a good website for that? Or maybe there's a thread here I haven't found, time to test the forum search function too.

Thanks all!

"Basic Black & White Photography" by Henry Horenstein.

Dektol is for paper.
Hypo Clear after fixing, before washing..

I made this for my college darkroom a while back. It might be helpful.

There we go, thank you!! Those guides are exactly what I needed (I lost my old Kodak guide somewhere along the way).

Cool chart, Henry!
My only nit-pick is that it should read "Hypo Eliminator" or "Hypo Clear" instead of Hypo.
Hypo is Fixer to us Oldtimers. 🥸

Fair enough. I think my first version had Hypo Clear, but I don't know why I removed it. Then I removed the Hypo Clear step and prewashing altogether because we weren't using it, and it confused people. I also have one for C41 and B&W print development.
