Reel Adjustments

Hello-
I'm seeking help with my plastic reel. (paterson I believe) I'm starting to practice more with my Mamiya and have several test rolls I would like to develop, but I can't seem to figure out how to adjust my reel from 35mm to 120.

Can anyone help me?

Twist the two sides of the reel in opposite directions as you (or I) do when removing 35mm film. You'll see that the centre of the reel is notched so when you put the two halves back together just go to the first notch and twist the reel back. That will be the right size for 120.

Hi,

Grab both sides of the reel and twist one side ,clockwise I think,then pull apart. Twist counterclockwise to lock it in place.It might be hard to twist,mine were.

The best adjustment for plastic reels is to follow the twist/pull/lock method mentioned above, then place the plastic reel on the darkroom floor and jump on it.

Having replacement stainless steel reels and tanks already on hand demonstrates good planning.

The last couple Paterson reels I have gotten have been a real bear to get to twist into the adjustment position. Thought I was going to break them before they let loose and moved.

Sully, dont forget to twist them back the other way once you have pulled up into the 120 or back down to the 135 position.... :confused:
