I haven't traveled extensively, but as I get older, the less space it camera takes and the less it weighs the better. Bulky and heavy cameras becomes burdon fast when you have to haul it. Folders and range finders make a lot of sense. But shooting SLRs for decades before picking up my first range finder takes some getting use to. On my trip to Turkey and Greece, I love using my $1.50 thrift store Olympus XA which is a range finder. I have a friend that has a Mamiya 6 which is also great for traveling. I like small and compact cameras for traveling because it makes getting on and off buses, trains and boats a lot easier. When I was young and foolish, I went to China with a 35mm slr with 3 lenses and a Chinese Rolleiflex knock off called a Pearl River. I'll never do that again.
