Recommend me a cheap wide angle lens for Nikon

Hi all, I am looking for a cheap (under 150) wide prime lens for a Nikon SLR.
Focal length 24 or 28 or 35.

It can be manual focus only and doesn't need to be so sharp wide open because I intend to use it stopped down almost always.
I don't mind lens flaring too much.
It can also be third-party Nikon fit or with an adapter not exceeding the total price mentioned.

Also I am going to shop online so don't suggest going to some thrift store or the like.

Maybe someone here is using a similar lens and getting nice results.

Nikkor-S 35mm f2.8 can be had quite cheaply - even online.

Hang the expense and blow the budget to bits, get a Leitz Wetzlar Elmarit - R 1:2.8 / 28mm. I commandeered this lens from my wife's old Leicaflex set and fitted a Nikon F adapter. Beautiful lens, fast and easy to stop down on my Nikon FA or FE2 in Aperture priority mode. Got a bad feeling she is getting a thing for film again though, so I may loose it back to her. Great fun whilst it lasts.

Tamron Adaptal 24 or 28mm are excellent, built very well and not expensive. The 28 f2.5 is especially good value and very much under appreciated.

And with a different adapter they can be used on almost any 35mm SLR.

Sigma Super Wide II 24mm F2.8. Got one new back in 1986. Performance OK but have never used it much as I found 24mm too wide for my taste. Have read a couple of good reviews of the lens.

Both the 28 and 24mm Nikon AI lenses are available for under 150...

I would think a used manual focus Vivitar, Sigma, etc would cost next to nothing, but my absolute favorite on my Nikon F2 is my Nikkor 35mm f/2 - the f/2 makes it easy to focus in low light and it focuses down to about 25cm. I may have paid about $150 for mine a couple years ago, in mint condition.

Could you point me to the right adapter? I need it for Nikon F cameras. It's probably easy but I don't want to make a mistake.

I have the Tamron 24 f2.5 and like it. I have a few Tamron prime and SP Zoom and like them all.

I would vote Nikkor 24/2.8 v2 (non-D). This is the one with the checkered focus ring, though the original with the ribbed ring is essentially the same thing, just less fun to manually focus. You will then be able to use it on any Nikon. Also pretty cheap. It's a great lens. Took one to Africa.

The 35 f/2 AF-D, if that's the one mentioned here, has quite a bad reputation with the (pixel peepers) digital crowd. OK, allegedly it is not "sharp in the corners" (whatever that means) - but which lens is? I don't think this matters too much to us film shooters anyway. One consequence is that it can be found cheap.

There were two versions of the 24mm. How you distinguish between them I have no idea, but reputedly the later version was shed loads better than the one it replaced.

I have and regularly use the 28mm 3.5 ai. I use it with tmax 400, so it is usually stopped down to f5.6 or 8, so the results are practically the same as the wonderful 2.8 and 2.0 lenses. I found mine at KEH in excellent+ condition for $79

I paid $61.25, $44.50, and $37.00 for three Vivitar 28mm lenses.

Two of the three had optical quality (resolution and contrast) equal to my more expensive Nikon 28 and Takumar 28 lenses.

The $61.25 lens had poor image quality.

That would be the same lens.

IMO, it's much better image quality than Nikons' 28/2.8 AF-D.

ongakublue, it doesn't appear to have inhibited anyone in providing answers but is "under 150" GBP or euros. I note you are based in Ireland but is this the Republic and euros or N. Ireland and GBP?

Actually 150 in either currency leaves a lot of leeway but it might help the responders if we know what currency.

I have a Nikon 24 f2.8 AIS. I enjoy using it. Image quality is great and it has the CRC close focusing feature which is why I use it so often. Mine's chipped to use with the F5 and those other things we dare not mention here. I paid $200+ but that's with a CLA so it's usable for the foreseeable future w/o reserve unless it's damaged.
