Hi folks!
I would like to try using Polaroid (or equivalent) film with my Crown Graphic 4x5, both for test shots and as final images in their own right.

What kind of Polaroid back and film would you recommend? I have no experience with Polaroid of any kind.

I forgot to mention that I normally shoot color, but occasionally black and white.

For the most part... that era ended. Not much hope right now unless you want to play with outdated and expensive product. Some good work, surprisingly, is done with old product though. There are some folks working toward limited revival of instant film. You should look into that as a potential future option. Google "CatLabs" for instance.

Hi again folks! I just wanted to resurrect this thread to see if there is anything new when it comes to instant film for Crown Graphic type cameras. Is nothing available as far as film goes?

Impossible Film Project changed their name to Polaroid and no longer makes 4x5 instant film. So your basic options now are to find some old 4x5 film on eBay or from some other source, or hack some kind of back together that will work with the film they do still make.

Get a Polaroid 405 back (or Fuji PA-145). Film: FP100c is about the only fresh stuff. Link: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/prod...35626_FP_100C_Professional_Instant_Color.html

though there is decent expired stuff out there, including Polaroid 55 from 2009 being still good.

the FP100c is slightly smaller than full 4x5, but still better than nothing. If you can find expired FP100C45, that's the same stuff in fullsize 4x5 size. That needs a Polaroid 550 or Fuji PA-45 back. FP100c is fine even as much as 4-5 years out of date. I am currently using some from 2013 and it's no different than the fresh stuff.

You’re right! I was confusing them with the old Impossible Project. But they do still have 4x5 instant film, even if it’s rather pricey.
