Hi folks

After a C41 35mm film that's got a wide exposure attitude - say shooting at 200-800ISO.
I normally shoot either Kodak Portra 400 or Fuji Superia X-Tra 400. While I'm sure I can over expose by shooting at 200 and developing at 400 without problems, can I also get away with under exposing these - shooting at 800 and developing at 400 ?
Or is there a better alternative ?

I don't mind grain, and get films developed at Filmdev or AG here in the UK, or occasionally a Jessops 1hr photo (minilab ?)

Color neg emulsions classically better tolerate overexposure better than underexposure. But you should be able to overexpose by as much as +3EV, and underexpose by as much as -2EV and still be able to get a print with good quality from it.

Portra 400. I shoot it at box speed and have made overexposure errors on personal projects without major drama to image quality. I haven’t shot it at EI 800 but want to. I have used several rolls of Portra 800 and don’t really care for it, so hoping to see what 400 exposed at 800 with increased development looks like.
