I was inspired to put together the attached F Stop printing tables after re-reading the chapter on Paper Reciprocity Failure in the book Way Beyond Monochrome. In this chapter they explained that paper reciprocity failure is in the range of 1/12 – 1/24 stop per stop with Agfa Multicontrast Premium having a speed loss of 1/15 stop per stop. I included tables for all three conditions.
I have been using a similar F Stop printing table for years. The layout is most convenient for me and my printing style. Hopefully someone will find them of some benefit.
It’s looking increasingly likely that Polywarmtone will be available again. Because this paper is so slow, it gave me fits trying to dial in exposure times. After seeing the reciprocity corrected times vs the uncorrected times on the 1/12 stop per stop table, I can see why I was missing the mark with ‘burn in’ times. Once the Polywarmtone is available again, it will need to test to see if I need an F stop table with reciprocity corrections greater than 1/12 stop per stop.
