Ok, recently I came into possession of a NEW F-1 with the AE prism head, however the camera has some issues including a shuttering firing on one speed only regardless what setting you set and the frame counter is broken. The meter still works otherwise the camera body is in really good shape. So is this worth repairing?

I already have another New F-1 with the Eyelevel prism, a AE-1 and Ftb so this not my first Canon FD body.

I would at least get a repair estimate, the F1 N is one of the best S.L.R' s ever made and worth spending money on.

Ok the the F-1N returned finally from the tech and she works great with one little problem, the frame counter isn't working. At this stage I can live it for a while because after inspecting my test roll, I got bang on shots (to be posted in the next few days). Until I take it to another tech who can fix that, I will have to go through entire rolls of film when using this body.

I don't think you'll regret getting it fixed Bill , they are great S.L.R.'s and true classics.

Why not just take it to the tech that supposedly repaired it ? They must have some kind of warranty on repairs. I really do not have any use for frame counters anyway.

Good morning, Bill;

Nice to hear that you are also still doing things with earlier more durably constructed cameras.

I too have been gathering some additional "vintage" cameras. Included among them are a Canon FT, three FTb, and a TLb. One of the FTb is strictly for parts, but it should be possible to get at least one working FTb out of those. The FL and FD mount lenses are still getting some use here.

Enjoy;

Hi Dances_w_clouds,

It was a broker that farms work out to different camera repair techs and it took a month for them to get the F-1N CLA'd. Like I said, I'm just going to use it for a while and go back to one of my old stand by techs at a later date because I actually want to use this camera.
