reapairing a bogen 3051 leg

hello all,
i just got a bogen 3051. one leg slides out when i pick it up. i was thinking about trying to repair it. anyone do this? any surprises? it also has a broken lever that adjusts an individual leg. i will try and get a new lever or manufacture one myself. any attempts at replacing this lever?
it is fully functional just a bit of a pain as it is now. if i could get these two problems solved it would be perfect.
anyone have any luck getting parts or repair from bogen?

Parts should be readily available but the there may be sticker shock. Any of the large camera stores should be able to order the part for you. You may also be able to order on the web.

thanks for the info. i will call tomorrow. anyone try and take the legs apart? will anything "fly" out? every time i try to do my own shutter repair i get myself in deep . i was trying to avoid the same experience.

Keep your eyes open and on the parts and you should be fine. Most tripod parts I've seen are not under any tension. Just make sure you have proper fitting tools for the job. When I had to replace a lever on the leg lock of mine it took all of ten minutes to accomplish. Mention what you need to fix to the person you talk to and you may be able to get some tips from them for easy fixing.

I am lucky enough to live a few minutes from Bogen. I've had a couple of Tripods (Parts needed) and my Gossen meter repaired there, quick and quite inexpensive.

I bought a new locking lever from Manfrotto (Bogen) directly and I recall being so surprised by the low cost, I bought two so as to have one spare...
