Realistic price?

Hello all. What would be a realistic price to pay for a good condition Schneider-Kreuznach f/165 to use on my 8X10 ???

Depends on how bad you want it. I have super-wide angles already and am not so keen on that lens, but for less than $200, I might be interested.

Depends whether you want a 165mm Angulon or Super Angulon. I have the latter it's a huge heavy lens in some ways I'd prefer an Angulon for its compact size, however I have a Wollensak 159mm EWA which is similar.

I'd look at completed sales on Ebay, my 165mm SA came with a 10x8 camera I guess I paid $200 for it but the shutter speeds were sticky so it had a CLA. LF lens prices are rising and have been for the last 2 or 3 years as almost no new lenses are being made.

$700 - $900 for a Super Angulon
$100 - $500 for an Angulon, the $500 one is a very late version black barrel last version of the Compur.

Like Ian, I have a 165 Angulon and a 159 EWA Wollensak (not the f/9.5 version). I tested them on an 8x10 and kept the Wolly for it and downsized the Angulon to a 6.5x8.5. It just didn't hold the corners on 8x10.

I have a 165mm f8 Super Angulon not Angulon. I have a few Super Angulons the 165mm, a 90mm f5.6, a 75mm f5.6 and a 75mm f8. and a 65mm f8, they are all superb lenses. I also have 3 Angulons a pre WWII 90mm which has more coverage than my post WWII lens it's vignetting that's the limit with the post war version. I also have a 120mm f6.8 Angulon coated in an Ibsor shutter, a very sharp lens.

Sometimes it takes time finding a good sharp older wide angle lens, that's been my experience with my post WWII 90mm Angulon, it's the third I tried. Lenses were hand made back then and variations were greater.

Sorry, Ian, I misread your post. I also have the 120 Angulon and agree it is a sharp lens.

If you want to use any movements then you want the Super Angulon. I've seen some sell for as low as Ian says but some people want crazy prices for them on eBay like $1500 or $1800 or even more. Supertramp had a song about those people.


I wanted one for a while until I found out how big and heavy they are. My back is already fused together so I don't need to lug one around.
