Good. I wrote to him in english earlier and posted a couple of links to german pages about Zorki and Leica.

Still, I wonder how he could believe that it was a Leica and not a Zorki-C when there's so much information available on the internet.

The seller is back to claiming it's a Leica. To quote:

Es ist keine russische Kamera Zorki-C!!!!

Es ist eine Leica !!!!!!

I would have bid up that Zorki if it wasn't horribly defaced by those leica engravings.

Look further down the page where he added that it is a Zorki and not a Leica.

Yeah, if I wanted a Soviet camera I would never buy one with fake "Leica" engravings. I don't understand those who willingly buy fake Leicas. No one should buy them, and make it more difficult for the fraudsters and fakers.

I agree.
But most people buying them will be people who think it is a Leica. Which is what makes it profitable for fakers.

What I meant was that no one ought to buy them when knowing they are fakes. Most of the auctions call the fakes "replicas" or "copies", and they get sold to informed buyers. Let the criminals deal with the fakes and take the risks. Buying fakes because they are "cool" or cheaper than the real thing only makes the market larger for the fakers.

I have a number of FSU cameras, and I'm quite proud of them. Of course I have been lucky in the fact that they all work well, and I get really good results. I would love to have a Leica, but right now I would rather eat.
