Hi,
I'm using Ilford ID-11 to develop rolls of Ilford HP5 Plus (and a couple of Kodak T-max), all 400 ISO. I intended to re-use the liter of ID-11 for ten rolls, but after developing four rolls (two at a time in a two-reel tank) I accidentally dumped out the developer instead of pouring it back in the bottle.
So I now have 500ml of developer that has only been used to develop two rolls of film. It has been sitting in an opaque one-liter milk jug for several days now.
I have 6 more rolls I'd like to develop with my remaining 500ml of ID-11 (because I'll soon be moving somewhere I won't have to pay for shipping). If I did, because I will be using the same 500ml for 3 more two-reel tank batches, would I still add the regular 10% development time per roll? Or more, because the developer won't be being diluted with the half of the liter that doesn't get used?
Thanks for any help or advice you can offer!

Jeez, just buy some more developer!

Thanks for the advice. If I will be doubling the extra time after every two rolls, I probably shouldn't push my luck and try to develop all 6 more rolls huh? Because by the end I'd be treating the developer as if it had developed over a dozen rolls?
Gerald, I may just have to take your advice. Even though I'm a poor teaching assistant in France, soon to be returning to Portland where I can walk down the street to the photo supply store instead of paying 6 Euros shipping.

What you did by accident was probably the best solution. One shot developing is far easier and more consistent, though like everything this statement is debatable. It is certainly a whole lot easier to keep track of which bottle of developer has been used how many times if you just tip it out. There is the cost equation of course, but where i come from ID11 and Microphen is about US$8.00 for 4.5-5.00 ltrs.
regards

My point was that with only 500 ml of developer it is uwise to try to develop any more film in it. Why risk your negatives. Everyone on APUG has probably done what you did at least once.
