I recently bought a Beseler 23Clll Variable Contrast Diffusion Enlarger. My question is this, I still have my old enlarger timer that goes up to 99 seconds, my negatives are of normal density, will I need a timer that has the ability to give longer exposure times since the light is diffused. I am thinking of getting a Analyzer Pro by RH Designs, I hope these two units are compatable. The reason I was asking about the timer was that I planned on using that until I got my Analyzer Pro, because it takes about a month or so for the order to get to Rhode Island in the United States from England. I would also like to hear comments on the Analyzer Pro, too please. Thanks a bunch.

I've used the 23CII for many years with 35mm negs and never encountered a negative requiring more than 99 seconds of exposure. I try to get exposures longer than 15 seconds and have many times used 60 seconds for dense negs, but generally my exposures range from 24 to 34 seconds and I like that.

The entire RH Design product list is outstanding. I do not own their products (yet) but have used the Pro and it is a remarkable machine.

Bruce,
Ever had any trouble with your enlarger head getting to hot, causing negative buckle. I am a medium format shooter that is something I am hoping I do have trouble with, I have not been able to use my enlarger yet I am still waiting on my lens board and neg. carriers to arrive... Thank you very much for your comments.

No, no problem with buckle. The bulb is only 85 W halogen. Mine came with a 6X9 mixing chamber as standard equipment. As I said I use it only for 35mm.

My only problem has been the Cyan filter slipping when I'm using Yellow or Magenta. I solved that with duct tape.

Well, I have a 23II condenser enlarger, (no color head) and I also have the RH Designs StopClock Pro.

They work quite nicely together... but be advised that you will need to purchase an adapter power cord to use it here.

99 seconds??? Holy smokes, if it took that long, I'd be doing something else (not a doctor...no 'patience') !! haha :D

I think the RH Designs timers ship with an adapter plug
