re-fixing film

I'm just recently sorting out my neg folder properly. Having bought acid free ring boxes/neg sleeves and finally getting round to making contact sheets for over 100 films! I've been most disorganized and not bothered until now. A lot of my films are from when I was in college but still have some of my favorite images on them. Some of them are inadequately fixed. In fact, quite a few. Are there any useful tips for re-fixing a number of films that have already been cut into strips with scissors. Are there any practical ways to make it a less fiddly job? Statute of limitations may kick in...don't know if you can effectively refix after such a long time...but I guess try one of your oldest ones and see what happens. I've successfully refixed after one month, but that's the longest I can vouch for.

You just submerge the strips in a bowl, handfuls at a time. Then rewash, photo-flow, and hang by a corner or maybe make some fine wire hooks for a sprocket hole.
