Re-developing already processed film?

Okay, so here's my issue. I made my own tubes that develop quite like the way the BTZS system works. Everything seems to be working nicely except for one issue - where the film contacts the tube, a blue dye found in my 4x5 Arista Edu Ultra film remains. It appears to be removed in the developer as it is left over if I save the used developer. Now, somehow this needs to be cleared as stop and fix both don't touch it. Can I re-process the film? In theory, all light sensitive material should have been removed during fix. How dependable is that? Has anyone actually done this? What problems might I run into?

It's odd that your stop and fix don't remove it. Perhaps because they are acidic?

Did you use hypoclear? The blue color is an antihalation dye, which normally comes mostly out in the developer. With some films I've used, a slight tint remains until I use hypoclear.

if your film is already processed, except the AH dye hasn't been
removed why not just soak your film in a water bath to get rid of the dye ?

If you're doing the entire process in the tubes you may try putting the film in trays for a second fixing. Actually I believe you can put the film straight into trays for the first fix.
No, I've never done tubes but have toyed with the idea. I currently have done a few sheets in a daylight tank made for 2 reels of 35mm. Google 4x5 taco method

The development and stop are the only parts of the process done in the tubes. The film is removed for fix and wash. I fixed for longer but it didn't seem to do anything. It was only in water for about 10 minutes. I have never used hypoclear, perhaps that would do it. Or the cheap way would be a long soak. I'll try that first. Thanks!

This is not an issue of inadequate fixation. It's antihalation dye, as was said. Harmless; but if you feel you must do something, extend your wash time a bit.

A lot of forum bytes have been expended on this non-problem.

I won't notice it in prints or scans?

not sure about not noticing it ...
do a pre-wet soak for a few minutes
before you put it in your tubes.
the AH layer will come off your film
before you develop it, and then you won't have a problem.
