RB67 wont fire shutter

Long story short I got shafted on ebay and since I drive truck I can't even leave negative feedback because I picked it up almost 3 months after I ordered it. So I basically paid full price for a parts camera.

I have an RB body that won't fire the lens shutter, on a 50 and 180mm lens. The shutter opens and closes but that's it, not for the specified speed on the lens. Sometimes it will do it if I mount the lens for the first time. My other body that I dropped (and ripped the prism mount screws out of) fires them just fine, and had a recent CLA too, I might graft that section over to this one if I can't fix this.

I'm not a stranger to camera repair I have fixed up a few Soviet FEDs over the years.

Forgot to mention, this is without a rotating back, the rotating mechanism or anything else attached, this is just body and lens so it's not all the finicky quirks these cameras have like the dark slide and the locking mechanism.

The mirror comes up as its supposed to and everything works in that aspect but when I put a lens on it, I guess the shutter just closes when the mirror comes up and doesn't open and close again for the timed mechanism of the lens.

Since you've used another RB67, I presume you'll know this, but just for thoroughness: you did make sure both lens and body were cocked before mounting the lens, in each case, right? Following this, if it's a ProSD, it won't fire with an empty or unadvanced film magazine unless you put the double exposure lever in "double" mode -- but in that case, the body won't fire at all.

Are you saying the lens is open for viewing, then closes when the body fires, but without making the actual exposure? Or something else? (Okay, I see your addendum, you'd be able to see the shutter open and close with the rotating adapter off). Could the mirror lockup/prefire be set in the body, mismatching the selector on the lens?

I mean, the lens cocks itself doesn't it? When you mount it? I've had RBs for years and never had this issue.

No, you need to cock the shutter in the lens first, or it won't permit the lens to be mounted.
EDIT: - thanks Donald - Or more appropriately worded, you need to make sure that the shutter in the lens is already cocked, or it won't permit the lens to be mounted.
What version of the body is it - Pro, Pro-S or Pro-SD?

Well, yes, but you only need to actively do so if you fired the shutter after dismounting the lens (recommended if you're going to store it for a prolonged period).
