Rb67 ProSD waistlevel question

I have picked up my RB67 ProSD last week and have a question about the waistlevel viewfinder. My unit came with a +1 diopter lens/enlarger installed, my eyes are still good so this +1 unit makes the image very blurry for me. The manual said it came with a -1.5 installed as standard, wouldn't a 0 diopter ring be more logical? in the Mamiya webshop I can only find the diopter lenses for the RZ67, do these fit the RB67? Which lens would you suggest me to get, the standard -1,5 or a 0?

1. The RZ and RB ProSD waist level finder diopter lenses are the same.
Thus, you can you the RZ one for your RB67 ProSD.

2. Like spectacles, which are prescribed per individual persons, because each spectacles wears has each different correction required, *looking at yourself* through the WLF is the only way you can tell which diopter are most suited for you (we have different eyes).
I have actually chose WLF diopter lenses by actually looking at the WLF at the store in Tokyo for my RB SD.
However personally, I now only use Prism Finder (metered and non-metered) with my glasses on and hand held only for the RB SD.

Zero Dioptre would just be a flat piece of glass so might as well not be there. I don't see why it would have a negative value as standard as a magnifier would need to be positive.

Isn't it 1.5 x magnification rather than a Dioptre value?

Please note that what we are talking is *not* a *corrective* lens that usually fitted in the prism finder (if it is, you are correct and that is what you are describing about).
We are taking about the *magnifier* (i.e. diopter equivalent).

I know, but a magnifier has to be positive. The only reason I can think of for having a -1.5 lens is if there is another positive lens there and the negative lens is used to adjust its power with -1.5 being the standard fitted at the factory.

-1.5 is the standard diopter that comes with the WLF, geared for a person with 20/20 eye sight.

I'm not an optician and can't tell you why it is negative but I do know the focus of the screen is set at a certain focal distance (36" ?) which the diopter corects your up close eye to the screen, otherwise without it you won't be able to see anyting in focus, just a blur.

Best way to fit yourself for a diopter is to go to the photo store n try em till you find one that is perfect for your eyes. Take the lens off and point the camera at a white background. Looking through the diopter, the markings (GG texture) n etchings on the screen should be tack sharp, that is the one for you.

I had a customer looking for a different diopter, perhaps you might want to offer a trade for a normal one in the classifieds or on the forums?
