I have a Pro SD body that I suspect might have a mirror problem. With the focusing hood and screen removed, the mirror when raised makes contact on the left side bumper strip (when viewed from the operator's position). The right side of the mirror is visibly lower in relation to the platform that holds the focusing screen, by a good 1/16". This holds true at the mirror's hinge side, as well.

With the mirror in the lowered position, however, the pins on the back of the mirror both appear to contact the stop pins in the side of the problem.

So, I am wondering if my mirror alignment might be out, or if this is possibly normal for the RB67.

If it sounds like something is misaligned, can anyone recommend a good RB67 repair technician?

Thanks.

This is normal. I noticed the same thing on my ProS body when I was replacing the mirror foam, but was told by a tech that it was by design. Have since also confirmed its the same way on a friends' ProSD body.

Check with Paul at automax1@juno.com for repairs. I hear he's good and he specializes in RB's. He was very helpful to me when I was looking to get into the RB system. He's here at apug as paulron.

Thanks, jpreston. While I was looking into this, after looking at my mirror without the screen in place, I came across a post from Paul where he mentioned that one of the most frequent mirror repairs he does is because people unfamiliar with the camera try to straighten out the mirror. It does indeed look wacky (I think! What do I know?) when it is actually as designed.

Thank you for providing his contact information. No one compares to a specialist.

Yep, mine too... focus appears to be fine and while the other seals on the camera rotating back and film backs needed replacing the mirror bumpers are OK so I haven't done them.
