I have a question for those people who know how all the interlocks work on an RB67. I recently bought a backup Pro-SD body which came with a rotating back adapter. The body (without the adapter on) fires the same as my current, working body. So it's working. However, there seems to be a problem with the newer rotating adapter.

when I fire the camera with the older rotating back adapter, I see little cables briefly zip out of the top right and top left of the adapter - these interact with corresponding holes in the film back. When I fire the camera with the newer rotating back adapter, the top left cable does not zip out. Does anyone know what this is for? I assume the top right cable has something to do with multiple exposure prevention, but what is the other hole/cable for?

Also the part of the rotating back adapter that is not firing looks like it could be turned with a screwdriver from the other side - could I simply adjust the screw in order to cause the cable to zip out?

thanks!

The pin that doesn't seem to be responding (top left) may be associated with the dark slide detection mechanism.

Does the camera fire even when the dark slide is inserted?

okay thanks.

so it looks like it is the coupling pin for disengaging the wind stop on the film back. Some poking around has loosened it up but it seems like maybe a spring is broken or something? It now shoots out of the back of the rotating adapter but does not retract, which will obviously be a problem. Has anyone dealt with this issue? Hoping there might be some quick fix I don't know about because I'm not really mechanically capable.

I have a good camera technician available to me for my RB stuff, and I would have him look at it, but he is a fair bit away from Nova Scotia.

The pin may have been bent at some time.

Those pins do get a bit sticky from time to time. I've used an itsy bitsy drippy drop of Naptha or lighter fluid to free them.
It got a really light spring so it doesn't take much to hang it up.

Syringe, drop on the tip of a small screwdriver(phillips works best) pair of tweezers.

For the tweezers, hold the tips closed & dip it into the liquid it'll pick up a bit, then just put in into the hole where the pin comes out.
It doesn't take much, but may need more than one application.

I once had a back that had a sticky linkage . Needed to take that one apart.
