So I bought a beat up RB67 body off eBay with a chimney finder with switchable levels of magnification. Its in OK condition, but the dial on the outside of the finder seems to have lost connection with the mechanism inside the camera. It looks like it should just line up with the hole in the mechanism and all will be good, but I took it all apart and can't get it to line up, and the "finger" doesn't extend enough either.

Attached is a photo, with the "finger" just to the right of my thumb and the hole just below it. Does anyone have one of these? Do these two just line up or am I missing a part? Anyone willing to send me a shot of a working mechanism?

Is the silver pin spring loaded and stuck inward?

im not sure what you have. can you show me the entire finder?

I've never seen any that have to link to the body mechanisms.

Second shot is the chimney finder, the knob switches it from 3x magnification to 5x by flipping up the mechanism inside (removed currently)
It doesn't link to the body, just the magnifier that flips up.

ooooooh now i see. that pin looks like a pivot that should fit in that hole. can you force it in place? is something bent causing it to be out of alignment?

the knob flips the different diopters in place. the pin is the direct control from the knob that does the flipping.

Thats the issue, it doesn't appear to be bent or anything, but I can't get it to line up properly. Maybe I just need to get more forceful?

thats what im thinking. i tried to find an exploded view of it but can't find anything on that viewfinder.

pop it in. it looks close enough to the pin. is it spring loaded?

So turns out that the whole viewfinder must have been dropped or something. I had to do some hammering to get it better aligned. Might have to take a second stab as it will still slip out but at least it sort of works. Thanks.

ah so it is bent out of alignment. if you're careful, ease things back in shape. its a puzzel n takes some close inspection as you go.

just see how you can counter bend whatever is out. maybe by twisting it manually.

a hammer? hahaha
