I need help. I posted this on an old thread, but wanted to start a new one in case one of you RB experts didn't see it.
My RB is acting up. I wasted a lot of travel and effort (and money) on two rolls that I'm pretty sure are going to be blank. My mirror will cock and fire, but the rear flap does not come up. It is also not firing the shutter in either of my lenses. I did not notice at first, because it sounds mostly normal (the shutter is quiet), and I was in a loud place. But when I looked at the lens as I pressed the shutter release, the lens was not firing. If I cock and fire the lenses manually (not mounted), they both fire correctly.
Looking closer, I can see that when the body fires, the mounting ring that normally turns counter-clockwise to fire the lens is not going all the way. I have attached a photo of the front of the body after it has been fired. I'm pretty sure those two holes that engage the lens should now be further around when in passive (non-cocked, after firing) position.
Matt had told me to make sure that my lenses were not in mirror lockup position, and they are not.
If anyone knows if this can be easily fixed by a total novice like me, please let me know.
