Dumb question of the week:

Will an original RB67 film back work on a ProS? I recall reading it will, but I can't find anything definite with an innernets search.

Other than not having the little lever for double-exposure, and the possibility the inserts are not interchangeable (neither of which is critical to me), would it work?

Yes but the double exposure safety wont work and the red bars in the view screen wont snap in place when you rotate the back. The dark slide safety won't work either.

One other thing on the older backs, you may have to flick the little silver lever in the top center to advance frames after firing... That was the double exposure prevention except you could still cock n fire... So double exposures can still happen. Actualy it was more of a frame advance reminder.

Ouch. I guess I'll hold out for a ProS back then. Thanks!

The Reznitsky compatibility chart is your friend: http://www.reznitsky.info/Mamiya/Comchart.htm

I have a few of the old backs (645, 220). They serve as good backups, and they help you develop excellent RB67 habits .

But if you have a choice, the order of preference is Pro-SD, Pro-S, Pro.

The Pro-SD backs do away with the foam.
