RB67 and Grafmatic

Does anyone know if a 2 1/4 x 3 1/4 Grafmatic can be used on an RB67. The Grafmatic will fit a Graflex graflock back - will it fit Mamiya's version? Yes, I know the Grafmatic is 6x9 and the RB67 is 6x7, but the loss of image area is not of concern - will the grafmatic fit and be usable?

Yes it will fit, but you may have to do minor clearancing. No big deal though.

I have a horseman 6x9 back on mine (well 82mm frame) and I opened up the rear of the RB just a tad.

If I remember right I get 76mm out of it. A little more vertical due to the light seal on the sides.

I take it you do realize that the graphmatic backs dont have spring pressure plates. i had a couple on a baby graphic and i never had any film flatness problems I was aware of, but i stopped down a good bit. I have read of other people having film flatness problems though.

It should fit physically, but as mentioned, the image may not fill the whole sheet. I don't understand anyone having film flatness problems with a Grafmatic. They hold the film flatter than anythig else available, barring mechanical malfunction.

Thanks guys - that's what I wanted to know. I've never had a film flatness problem with a Grafmatic, either.

I've gotten my hands on an RB67 and 2 1/4 x 3 1/4 Grafmatics do fit and work just as they're supposed to. So do sheet film holders for Graflex backs in the same size.

The film image is 6x7, not the full 6x9, of course.
