Expensive remedy? I am however based in New Zealand so things could be more expensive. The aperture ring is not consistent, if I set it to F32 and pull the lever, sometimes it closes down, other times half way, and many other times it does nothing (it's wide open).

I was thinking about it b/c I got my slide film back from the lab and I was wondering why 2 or 3 rolls came back so overexposed. Surely, my metering isn't that bad and I have never had it so bad in the past. I've also replaced the previous camera body due to bellow light leaks.

The lens is also slow to stop down, ie when you press the cable release there is a bit of delay before you hear the lens click. In the past I have just learnt to live with it.

Cheers.

CLA is needed.
Shouldn't be particularly expensive, unless something more than Cleaning, Lubricating and Adjusting is required (i.e. a broken part).

+1......I totally agree with Matt. I'm a long time RB user and each time I've had lenses get "sluggish" or "intermittent" on response it was cured with a CLA. I wish I could say it's inexpensive to have it done right, but I paid decent money each time. But, I got what I wanted in the end, a solid working lens.

I am thinking the CLA'ing a non C lens might not be worth it, your thoughts? Wouldn't most RB users prefer at least the C version? Plus I think it has some fine looking sandpaper spots on the lens when I look thru it, hasn't affected my images but anyone know what it is? The 2 kinda spot lights is the LED torchlight.

In due time I might replace the bellows thou with my older RB (original Pro Non S).

You might try, if you feel confident. Perhaps it will be just a matter of (literally) Cleaning some dried up lubricant, Lubricate with fresh oil/grease, and Adjust... well, nothing possibly.

However, should you get down to the point in which you're compelled to remove the diaphragm blades, I warmly suggest that you STOP IMMEDIATELY and carry the whole thing to a trained technician who knows how to deal with them.

I've never used any type of light on my lenses in the past, but I would say there is quite a bit of spots in your glass from the photos. As for "C", all mine are "C". So, I keep them going as best as possible. You might entertain looking for a "C" instead. But as always, nothing from that era is guaranteed to be flawless. Just a caveat of buyer beware. Although I've never been disappointed with any of my RB purchases in the past.

Cost difference between clean or replace from someone who warrants the lens to be fully functional. If you're questioning optical
defects You'll feel better if your new lens doesn't have similar defects.

I am just thinking, yes I got the older original RB with an original 90mm lens. With the option of fixing an original pre-C lens or purchasing a C lens (or the KL lens), wouldn't most people prefer the latter?

RB lenses are quite affordable why spend the money in fixing an original lens when one could get a much newer lens?

Yes, as long as the "newer" lens is in solid working order. As a "C" only owner mine are all in fine working order. I did not own any of the later KL units and can only assume they would be fine replacements as well.

To be just a bit contrary....
I would rather have a fully CLA'd non C RB67 lens in properly working condition than a more recent lens of uncertain condition.

Thanks. I think it may need a clean. I was holding the pins at the rear side of the lens, how you manually cock and uncock the lens. After pressing the pin down, it was quite tight to uncock and recock. After doing it many times it has loosened up. The aperture opening looks to be OK.
