I understand most RB lenses will fit an RZ67, under some feature called RBL compatibility mode (?)

I understood RB and RZ bodies to have different lens-flange-film-plane-distances (RB=112 mm, RZ=105 mm).

Because of this, I assumed there might have been some mechanical barrier to mixing them, but since the RB existed before the RZ, there was no need to think about that in the Pre-RZ RB days.

So, my question is, will an RZ lensmount fit an RB body? I am looking for a bayonet only to fit an RB67 (Pro?) body for (Siskin-style?) lens hacking.

I was offered half an RZ teleconverter, but until I know whether it fits, it's of dubious use.

Thanks

Murray

RZ lens won't work on a RB since the RB lacks all the electronics. But it doesn't sound like you intend to use a RZ lens. You just want to mount a RZ teleconverter? Why? If you're going to hack it why not look for an extension tube?

Right, no desire to use RZ or RB lenses at this time. I could pick up a 90 or 127 RB lens that works, but that would be too easy and less fun. I'd simply have a camera that was already ready to use. I know that would be the normal thing to do, but I'm not ready for that.

RB extension tube is another good option.

The ring that mates with the body alone will give me the most flexibility.

Thanks

Although the bayonet ring is the same, the RZ lenses have a larger flange, and they won't fit in the opening of an RB (unless you have a Pro SD). The RZ has the same size opening as the Pro SD.
