Well, it's a beauty. I had never heard who'd designed the exterior of the F before (Yasaku Kamekura), so that was a nice piece of information to pick up. If he's still with us, he should be proud of his achievement.

I too thought that was rubberized cloth in my F3, until now.

If it is like mine (1964) I suspect the creases in the thin titanium make you think it is cloth.

It's essentially a prototype. Think of a pre-production Lamborghini Miura. Well, maybe not; the F was more like a Mustang. Actually, that doesn't quite work either. Never mind.

I would have to say, if I were gifted this camera, I'd be sorely tempted to run a roll of film through.

I don't think the "Blue Book" price has anything to do with the price that equipment fanatics will pay Ron that want to own this type of thing, they want it at all cost rationality has already flown out of the window.

Oh, I agree, but then from my POV (and that of many of us) this is madness to pay so much for this camera.

I find it sad, actually. Last year when I was in Japan, my local dealers couldn't GIVE Nikon Fs away. The Photomic models especially, were like poison ivy. Only for $50 would one sell.
