Rangefinder alignment is slightly off?

Sadly no. I received the last R2A they had in stock.

That sucks, sorry to hear. Is there a reason why you want the R2 specifically? The R2 has the same viewfinder as the R, but the jump to a R3 1:1 finder is that much more awesome(shooting with both eyes open), the clarity of it beats even the leica m3. And I think if holds its value better than the regular R or R2 models if you ever plan on selling it in the future. Or if you want to really go inexpensive, the bessa R can usually be had for a song, and there are tons of screw mount lenses still around to be used for it. I'm quite fond of the canon serenars, really great bang for the buck.

Typically the length of time in repair isn't the difficulty or simplicity of the job but the number of items awaiting service and the number of technicians on the job.

Very true. And while any warranty repair is a unrecovered cost, a repair tech sitting idle is doubly costly. That said, a 6 week turnaround is not what I'd consider reasonable and would certainly make me think twice about buying a Bessa.
