Ramping agitation time & frequency (just a crazy idea)

Hardly anyone constantly agitates, not in manual world,yet results are at least as even. It has no bearing on final result, agitation needs to ensure chemical exchange at the film surface, should not be too vigorous, and certainly does not need to be constant. Given how single or no agitation can deliver even results, it completely kills the idea of having to do it constantly. Nothing about it is universal though, and surely no improvements can be made by constantly changing how it is done.
