RA4 -controlling saturation-

I'm usually quite happy with the saturation of Kodak ENDURA Premier (F) but sometimes I have some photos where I'd like to lower the saturation quite a bit. I read here on apug that it is possible by modifying the developer, but I haven't quite understood it. Do I have to make the developer mor acidic (lowering the Ph)? can I do it by adding citric acid? How much? Help!!!
(I don't want to do bleach bypass, because I don't use separate bleach and fixer, and because it would increase the contrast and grain)

To decrease color saturation, add a small amount of Sodium Sulfite to the developer. This lowers contrast and it can lower Dmax. I suggest 1 g/l or less. You need do nothing more.

The color balance changes for me and the prints become more red.

Or you could give Fuji Crystal Archive (the "basic" European stuff for optical printing, not DPII or similar) paper a try, it has lower contrast and saturation (and Dmax) compared to Endura Premier. The difference is quite noticeable.
