Wyo ... I've know dozens of people who died relatively young due to products once routinely sold nationwide retail, every one of which was claimed at the time to be nearly harmless by the producer, but most of which are now outright banned worldwide.
I made no claim about various industries outside beyond my claim of knowing a lot of research chemists. Within this arena I have not noticed higher than normal rates of early deaths.
You probably wouldn't see much of a problem with R&D workers in the state of art tech and biotech labs all around here. And production quality control in our pharmaceutical plants is insanely clean. But it's an entirely different health record with their facilities maintenance workers who have to deal with effluent lines and so forth. Some horror stories there. Also groundwater and toxic runoff issues in the vicinity.
Heck, I used to love kiwis until the day my throat swelled up and I couldn't breathe and almost got hauled to the ER. I'm not such a big kiwi fan now. In fact I won't even take a bite of one now..
