Quick Hasselblad question . .

I own a 500 C and a 500 C/M.

After the LAST frame is exposed should I:

• Advance the film to cock the body and lens? CAN this be done?
• Remove the film magazine THEN cock the body and lens prior to attaching the magazine with a fresh roll of film advanced to "1"

The reason I ask is because I just spooled up a fresh roll of film and attached the magazine not realizing the body and lens were not cocked. Without thinking I advanced the film to cock the body and lens . . . losing the first frame.

What is the proper procedure? The 500 C and 500 C/M manuals are not clear.

Cock the body again after the last shot has been fired before you continue with any operation. As you observed, when putting a new roll of film into an uncocked body/magazine-combination, you lose a frame.

As said above advance the film after the last shot. Hasselblad lenses were designed for the springs to be under tension with the lens cocked. Hasselblad bodies and lenses should always be stored cocked. Additionally Hasselblad lenses should be fired at several speeds every three months according the my Hasselblad repairman.

I was told once a month and to trip each shutter speed on each lens several times. I try but end up doing it as your
hasselblad repairman instructed. I do the same with my Rolleicord and anything else with a Compur shutter. Now I wonder about doing the same with Japanese shutters on my 4x5 cameras?.......Regards!
