I'm suffering from severe temptation to buy a ZI since my Contax G2 has died. I'd be grateful for any answers to the following ...

1) is it ok with IR film? - no fogging, fogging around the sprocket holes, or fogging into the frame?
2) how does the AE lock work? a thumb button (cf Nikon slrs), a lever on top (cf Contax G2), partial pressure on the shutter release, all of the above?
3) apart from the metering, does it work if the batteries are dead (like the cameras which will still fire at 1/60 even without a battery)
4) any comments about robustness & build quality?
5) I understand that shutter speeds can only be set to whole stop increments in manual exposure. Can you use the exposure compensation dial to get 1/3 stop increments when using manual mode? (This works on the G2)

And lastly, is there anyone around Oslo who has one that I could look at?

cheers
Pete H.

Well, I own a ZI, but I live in france. So you won't be able to see it
First, it is ok with IR film, because film entertainment is manual.
Second the AE L works with a small button just under the viwfinder (not the most ergonomic)
Third, when the batteries are dead you can't shoot.
Fourth, very well built. Made by Cosina, but not like a Voigtlander at all. Looks like a very beautiful body. Not heavy but nice to have in one's hands.
Fifth speed increment is half or entire values. BUt Lens aperture is adjsutable by third of diaph. So combining the two, it's very nice.

I have a strong suspicion that Father Christmas will be bringing one ... I must leave out the bottle of port for him.

If I leave out a bottle of port I hope he brings one for me too.

Wonder what he'll leave me if I leave out a bottle of Laphroaig..?

mixing all that port and laphroaig, about all he's liable to leave anyone is a great big yak in the porcelain throne.

Yak="long aired wild ox of Tibet and Asia" Would definitely fill the porcelain throne:surprised:
